Research Descriptions:
Short: The role of inflammation and oxidative stress, psychological factors, and chronic kidney disease on cardiovascular disease.
Long: 1) The role of oxidative stress and inflammation in the pathogenesis of hypertension and cardiovascular disease. Dr. Abramson has been lead author of papers examining the association between inflammation and oxidative stress within the context of hypertension and cardiovascular disease. He is currently the PI of an American Heart Association (National Center) grant looking at inflammation and oxidative stress in relation to 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring.

2) The role of psychological factors in cardiovascular disease. Dr. Abramson is currently the PI of a K23 NHLBI grant examining the association between depression and subclinical myocardial ischemia.

3) Chronic kidney disease in relation to cardiovascular disease.
