| Short: | Nutritional epidemiology, primary prevention of chronic disease, especially type 2 diabetes. | |
| Long: | CDC's Division of Diabetes Translation conducts a wide-ranging program of epidemiologic research and surveillance on diabetes and its major risk factors and complications, including obesity, impaired glucose tolerance, nutritional status, and physical activity, both domestically and internationally. Current collaborative research includes the development and evaluation of improved methods for nutrition monitoring and surveillance for folate and vitamin B-12. The Division partners with state and local health departments in the implementation and evaluation of interventions for diabetes control and prevention. | |
