Research Descriptions:
Short: Heart disease and stroke prevention applied research, translation and program evaluation.
Long: Dr. Farris is a lead behavioral scientist in the Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Her current research activities include worksite wellness, health economics, policy and systems change for heart disease and stroke prevention and promising practices in public health programs. Previous research has included the Bogalusa Heart Study, the Dietary Intervention Study in Children (DISC), and the Child and Adolescent Trial for Cardiovascular Health (CATCH). As adjunct faculty, Dr. Farris is interested in contributing to both lectures related to chronic disease nutrition as well as supporting student research projects.
