Research Interests: My primary research interests lie in the investigation of the conditions under which T cells become activated in the absence of CD28- and CD40- mediated costimulatory signals in experimental murine models of transplantation. My current projects focus around three primary means by which antigen-specific CD8+ T cells may accomplish this: 1) having a high initial donor-reactive T cell precursor frequency, 2) having a high affinity/avidity for alloantigen, and 3) having an altered activation threshold as a result of prior stimulation with antigen (i.e. memory status).
