The Ph.D. Program : Applicants to the NHS Program should have a strong undergraduate background in the physical, biological, or behavioral sciences; hold a cumulative average of B+ or better in major science courses; and demonstrate motivation for a career in nutrition research. Applicants who achieve a combined score of less than 1200 on the Verbal and Quantitative domains are unlikely to be competitive. Students who lack strong qualifications in one of these domains and who can provide evidence of a productive experience in laboratory or field science may also be considered for admission.
The MD/Ph.D. Program : Students applying to the MD/PhD. Program should have an outstanding academic background in science or mathematics, as well as research experience as undergraduates.
ADMISSIONS MATERIALS

A complete application consists of the following elements
- A completed application form
- A statement of purpose
- 3 letters of recommendation
- Transcripts from all prior educational institutions
- Official GRE scores. Scores must not be more than five years old.
- Official TOEFL scores (international students)
Additional items may be added as appropriate (C.V, writing samples, etc)
Applications will not be processed or reviewed until the application fee is received.
APPLICATION DEADLINES

The deadline for the submission of application materials is January 3 for enrollment in the upcoming fall semester. Applicants should initiate their application process early to ensure timely delivery of transcripts and letters of recommendation.
Minority students are encouraged to apply for the Emory Diversity Graduate Fellowship (EDGF). To be eligible for the EDGF all application material must be received by the January 3rd deadline.
Application to the M.D./Ph.D. program is accomplished through the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) to the Emory University School of Medicine (deadline October 15th). All supplemental materials and letters of recommendation must be received by the Emory Medical School Office of Admissions by December 1. Acceptance into the M.D./Ph.D. Program usually occurs prior to entering the first or second year of medical school. Check the Status of Your Application : Once your application has been processed you will receive an email with your login ID and password so that you may check to see which application material has arrived in our department. We begin to email applicants with this information near the beginning of November. Click here to check the status of your application.
On-Campus interviews : Interviews are usually held in early February by invitation of the Program. Reasonable travel expenses are paid by the Division for domestic applicants. The Program does not pay interview travel expenses for applicants who are overseas.
