Within-host dynamics
We are interested in the within-host selection of antimicrobial resistance in the common respiratory pathogen, the pneumococcus. We also study, the interplay of the pneumococcus with viruses to cause pneumonia.

Evolution of drug resistance
I offer a course in the Spring at SPH on Global issues in antimicrobial resistance that addresses many aspects of the evolution of resistance. Together with Prof Levin they are able to accommodate a student interested in the evolution of fluoroquinolone resistance in the pneumococcus.
