Emory and Atlanta

The 660-acre campus is in a beautifully wooded area six miles northeast of downtown Atlanta. The city of Atlanta, populated by about 4 million people and widely considered the cultural and industrial center of the Southeast, offers a host of diverse opportunities. The Jimmy Carter Presidential Center and Library and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Non-Violent Social Change are both internationally known educational service facilities. Culturally, Atlanta offers the Atlanta Ballet, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Alliance Theater, the High Museum of Art, and the Michael C. Carlos Museum on the Emory campus. The city has four major professional sports teams and is easily accessible by a convenient bus and rail system. For outdoor activities, the Appalachian Mountains are located just north of the city and Atlantic and Gulf Coast beaches are accessible by car.
