Muscle to Mind

Neuroscience faculty member Dr. Andrew H. Miller is mentioned in an article about how exercise-induced muscle metabolites protect the brain from stress-induced depression in a mouse model.

Miller added that exercise, or drugs that target PGC-1a1, would likely be effective only in depressed patients “Exercise may be especially relevant to those depressed patients who have increased inflammation,” said Miller. These results “allow us to target therapies like exercise to select populations of individuals,” he added. Click here to read full article on TheScientist.com.
