PBEE Student, lead author in malaria study

Mary Bushman is a fifth year PBEE student working on the evolution of drug resistance in malaria. Her work has shown that drug-sensitive parasites can suppress resistant parasites in infections in African children, suggesting that sensitive parasites can impede the spread of drug resistance.  This work could potentially inform novel control strategies to curb the spread of resistance.
